About the Position

As the Senior Manager, Benefits and Compensation, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective administration and continuous improvement of our total rewards programs, including medical, dental, retirement, life insurance, wellness, leave, and compensation. You’ll collaborate with the People Team, Payroll, Finance, and other internal partners; manage vendor relationships; and provide expert guidance to employees and leaders to ensure programs are accessible, competitive, compliant, and aligned with workforce and business needs.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Total Rewards, you will balance day-to-day operational excellence with opportunities to enhance employee understanding, streamline processes, and strengthen our total rewards infrastructure. Your ability to interpret market trends, maintain compliance with evolving state and federal regulations, and apply thoughtful analysis to both benefits and compensation decisions will help attract, retain, and reward top talent—ensuring our programs remain a source of value for employees and a strategic asset for the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Strategy & ExecutionPartner with the Senior Director, Total Rewards to evaluate, design, and implement comprehensive compensation, benefits, and retirement programs, including annual planning and long-term strategy.
  • Contribute to budgeting, cost analysis, and program evaluation to ensure sustainable, competitive, and compliant Total Rewards offerings.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted resource for People Team colleagues, managers, and employees on compensation and complex benefits and leave matters.
  • Compensation ManagementIn collaboration with the Senior Director, Total Rewards, develop and manage salary structures, pay grades, and compensation policies that align with the organization’s philosophy, financial goals, and talent strategy.
  • Conduct regular market benchmarking and pay equity analyses to ensure competitiveness, internal alignment, and compliance with applicable pay regulations.
  • Support annual compensation planning processes, including merit increases, promotions, and incentive programs.
  • Provide guidance to People Team and business leaders on compensation decisions, leveraging data and insights from HRIS and market analyses to support informed pay practices.
  • Benefits and Leaves ManagementOversee leave management programs, including paid sick leave and leaves of absence.
  • Establish accountability for accurate documentation and timely communication, setting standards and monitoring execution across all leave and benefits processes.
  • Lead the transition from transactional administration to strategic process design, building scalable benefits operations through improved documentation, clear handoffs, and system enhancements.
  • Lead benefits-related education and communication initiatives (e.g., webinars, open enrollment communications) to promote understanding and engagement.
  • Benefits Operations Oversee day-to-day administration of health, welfare, retirement, wellness, and leave of absence programs.
  • Collaborate with HRIS and Payroll teams to optimize systems, automate processes, and ensure accurate deductions, reporting, and compliance filings.
  • Manage vendor and broker relationships, ensuring service quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Compliance and Risk ManagementEnsure all benefit and leave programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA).
  • Prepare and file required reports and disclosures (e.g., Form 5500, ACA filings), and oversee audits and recordkeeping related to benefits.
  • Continuous Improvement & Special ProjectsMonitor vendor performance, assess program effectiveness, and recommend enhancements or new offerings to support workforce needs.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects related to benefits, wellness, or leave administration as assigned.

Who You Are

  • You have 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits and compensation administration, with demonstrated expertise in managing complex leave, pay, and rewards programs.
  • You bring strategic vision and hands-on experience in the areas of compensation and benefits, understanding how total rewards impact employee engagement and organizational success.
  • You bring deep and up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local benefits and leave laws (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and state-specific paid leave programs), with the ability to interpret and apply them in practice.
  • You have experience developing and maintaining salary structures, job architectures, and compensation frameworks that ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • You are skilled in conducting salary survey participation, data validation, and benchmarking to inform compensation decisions and maintain alignment with market trends.
  • You are highly organized and detail-oriented, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities, complex workflows, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are a strong communicator, able to explain complex benefits concepts clearly in writing and verbally, and tailor your approach to diverse audiences.
  • You demonstrate discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive employee information, fostering trust and confidentiality.
  • You excel in building collaborative partnerships and can work effectively with employees, managers, People Team colleagues, and external vendors at all levels.
  • You model collaborative, inclusive leadership that balances strategic vision with operational excellence.
  • You are adept at analyzing data, evaluating plan design, and recommending process improvements that enhance accuracy, compliance, and the employee experience.
  • You are proficient with HRIS and benefits administration platforms, as well as Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • You hold an equivalent or combination of education and experience in human resources, a Business Administration, or a related field; HR certifications (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or CCP) are preferred.
