About the Position  

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Senior Director, HR Operations is a newly developed leadership role responsible for driving excellence and efficiency across The Princeton Review (TPR) and Tutor.com’s People Operations functions. This leader will oversee HR Operations—including HR systems, payroll, compliance, compensation, benefits, and total rewards—while also managing the HR Business Partner team and serving in a senior HRBP capacity for a portion of their portfolio. 

This position is both strategic and hands-on, directing daily operations across multiple functional areas while shaping long-term people strategies that support a distributed workforce of 300+ corporate employees and a high-volume instructor and tutor population across the U.S. and Canada. The Senior Director, HR Operations will build scalable processes, lead and develop HR team members, steward a culture of equity and inclusion, and partner closely with leaders to ensure HR programs are aligned with the company’s go-forward strategy. 

What You'll Do 

HR Business Partner Leadership 

  • Lead, coach, and develop the HRBP team, ensuring high-quality partnership to business leaders across the organization. 
  • Establish HRBP frameworks, operating rhythms, and service delivery standards that drive strategic workforce support. 
  • Support performance management, employee relations, organization design, talent planning, and leader coaching. 
  • Champion a culture of accountability, inclusion, collaboration, and equitable people practices. 

Serve as Senior HR Business Partner 

  • Act the HRBP for a designated segment of business, providing strategic consultation across performance management and development, workforce planning, team design, and culture. 
  • Assess organizational needs and design solutions related to workforce planning, engagement, and leadership effectiveness. 

HR Operations Leadership 

  • Oversee end-to-end HR Operations, including payroll, HRIS, compliance, employee data integrity, leave administration, and cross-functional HR processes. 
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve scalable policies, practices, and systems that support a complex, high-volume, multi-state workforce. 
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, and business leaders to ensure timely and accurate execution of payroll, HR cycles, employment changes, and compliance requirements. 
  • Use analytics, dashboards, and employee insights to guide People Operations decisions and assess organizational and workforce trends. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations. 
  • Lead compensation and compliance processes, including EEO, AAP, ADA, FMLA, and other regulatory requirements. 
  • Maintain high standards for reporting accuracy and data governance. 

Total Rewards, Compensation & Benefits 

  • Lead the strategic direction and administration of all compensation, benefits, and total rewards programs. 
  • Oversee annual merit cycles, compensation reviews, benchmarking, variable pay, and equity analyses. 
  • Drive the design, communication, and execution of health and well-being programs, including annual open enrollment. 
  • Evaluate trends and costs; make innovative, equitable recommendations to ensure programs remain competitive and cost-effective. 
  • Oversee vendor management, optimize program delivery, negotiate contracts, and ensure excellent employee experiences. 
  • Create and maintain TPR/Tutor.com’s rewards and recognition programming. 
  • Coach leaders through complex employee matters with strong judgment, situational awareness, and risk mitigation. 

Who You Are  

  • You bring 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated leadership across HR Operations, Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, and/or Total Rewards. 
  • You have previously served as an HR Business Partner in your career and have demonstrated experience strategically partnering with leadership and business leaders on full cycle talent programs.  
  • You demonstrate expertise in building and scaling equitable and compliant HR programs for distributed multi-state workforces. 
  • You possess deep subject matter knowledge in compensation, benefits, and HR operations, with the ability to apply it strategically and pragmatically. 
  • You have strong analytical skills; the ability to leverage data, reporting, and systems (UKG or similar) to inform decisions. 
  • You have a Proven ability to coach leaders, navigate complex employee relations issues, and influence senior stakeholders. 
  • You bring experience leading and developing HR team members across specialties, fostering collaboration and shared accountability. 
  • You have exceptional judgment, problem-solving skills, and commitment to high-quality execution. 
  • You have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging—embedding equitable practices across people programs. 
  • You demonstrate an effective ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively, and deliver outcomes aligned with organizational strategy. 
  • You set ambitious and achievable goals to deliver high-quality outputs and results for multiple initiatives, while empowering, inspiring and holding self and others accountable for delivering on commitments consistently  
  • You model inclusive and collaborative leadership, working effectively with colleagues from a diverse range of backgrounds.
