Head of People Ops

Osano is a venture-backed, mission-driven B-corp building data privacy transparency tools. The Head of People Ops will design and lead scalable people systems, strengthen manager effectiveness, and partner with executives to align people strategy with business goals while operating hands-on to build processes, implement performance systems, and scale a remote-first team.

Skills

  • 8+ years in HR (including talent acquisition, people operations, compensation) with 2+ years owning a People Ops function in high-growth environments
  • Deep knowledge of modern HR practices: compliance, performance management, compensation design, and culture programs
  • Track record of scaling People systems during growth or reorganization
  • Ability to translate strategy into scalable, repeatable operational processes
  • Strong communication and cross-level influencing skills
  • Practical experience applying AI and automation to People Ops workflows
  • Familiarity with tools such as Justworks, CultureAmp, Greenhouse, and Slack
  • Experience leading remote or distributed teams with a culture-first mindset

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable performance management, learning, and manager development systems.
  • Create career pathing and internal mobility frameworks to support skill growth and succession readiness.
  • Partner with executives on org design, strategic workforce planning, and headcount forecasting.
  • Lead hiring operations in collaboration with Finance and functional leaders to ensure accurate planning and diverse pipelines.
  • Own People infrastructure: compensation, benefits, HR platforms, and automation for scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and internal policies across U.S. states (and applicable international jurisdictions where relevant).
  • Build People analytics dashboards to monitor engagement, sentiment, turnover, and hiring performance.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-trust remote culture through programs, recognition, and continuous feedback loops.
  • Oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle: onboarding, engagement, performance, and offboarding.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Professional HR certifications (SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) are a plus

  • Base salary $160,000–$175,000 plus stock options/equity
