About the Role

We're looking for a Sales & Business Development Leader who is a self-starter and results-driven sales expert with the leadership, creativity, and ambition to drive our commercial sales strategy to new heights. This person will own the commercial sales pipeline from lead generation to deal closure, working closely with internal teams to develop targeted outreach strategies, build relationships with key decision-makers, and exceed revenue targets.

The ideal candidate is someone with proven experience in sales leadership and business development, particularly in emerging tech industries. They must be a proactive, strategic thinker who can lead by example, create a compelling narrative for our solutions, and bring strong execution to drive revenue growth in new commercial markets.

The Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to be the founding leader of our commercial sales efforts, working directly with senior leadership to shape the strategy and build a high-performing team. You'll leverage our established success in government contracts to open new doors in the commercial sector, with the autonomy to define and execute your vision for growth.

Responsibilities:

Build & Own Commercial Sales

  • Launch and scale our commercial division from the ground up as the founding sales & development leader
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to penetrate new commercial markets
  • Own the full sales cycle from lead generation to close, consistently exceeding quarterly targets

Drive Strategic Growth

  • Partner with senior leadership to align commercial and defense strategies
  • Identify high-value opportunities in the tech sector and convert them into revenue
  • Build market intelligence and competitive analysis to stay ahead of industry trends

Lead & Scale the Team

  • Define the team roadmap and build a high-performing commercial sales team
  • Mentor junior staff while establishing processes and KPIs for sustainable growth
  • Foster a data-driven culture using HubSpot to optimize pipeline performance

Cultivate Key Relationships

  • Build C-level relationships with enterprise clients and strategic partners
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and operations to ensure seamless delivery
  • Create compelling proposals and narratives that differentiate our tech solutions
  • Transform our proven government success into commercial market dominance
  • Bachelors degree in Business or related field
  • Proven Sales Leadership: 3-5 years of experience in a sales leadership role, preferably in commercial tech or tech solutions, with a track record of exceeding targets and driving sales growth
  • Exceptional Sales Skills: Expertise in leading complex sales cycles, generating leads, building relationships, and closing large deals in the tech sector
  • Commercial Acumen: A deep understanding of how to scale sales strategies in new markets, ideally with a blend of both B2B and B2G (Government) sales experience
  • CRM Expertise: Experience with CRM platforms like HubSpot to track and manage sales processes, metrics, and forecasts
  • Excellent Communication: Clear, confident, and engaging communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with high-level stakeholders and build persuasive proposals
  • Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving: Ability to identify commercial opportunities, navigate complex problems, and lead teams through solutions
  • Results-Oriented: A drive for performance excellence and hitting/exceeding sales KPIs
  • Self-Starter: Proactive, with a bias for action, you take ownership of your sales pipeline and results
  • Eligibility for Security Clearance: Must be eligible for Security Clearance
  • Travel: Ability to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)
  • Competitive base salary: $160,000 - $180,000
  • Attractive quarterly bonus structure with significant earning potential
