Senior Research Manager - Agricultural Commodities #0209

Our client, a pioneering FinTech organization specializing in agricultural commodity risk solutions, is seeking a talented professional to join their team as they complete their seed funding phase and expand operations. In this role, you'll establish and oversee the research infrastructure that drives customized hedging strategies for agricultural supply chains in markets where conventional hedging mechanisms are unavailable.

This represents an exceptional chance to develop innovative research methodologies at the convergence of quantitative analytics, agricultural market dynamics, and business intelligence, working closely with the Head of Underwriting in a dynamic startup atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Connect quantitative analysis with practical market applications and trading strategies
  • Create comprehensive research infrastructure that integrates statistical modeling with industry insights
  • Engage with market participants and producers to gather firsthand intelligence
  • Establish long-range research initiatives with clear implementation pathways for portfolio strategies
  • Utilize sophisticated statistical techniques and machine learning for agricultural market analysis

Essential:

  • Demonstrated capability to integrate quantitative research with market intelligence gathering
  • Advanced technical proficiency: Python, SQL, Machine Learning/Statistical analysis
  • Master's degree in Statistics/Data Science/ML, Agricultural Economics/Agronomy/Animal Science (outstanding Bachelor's degree holders with proven research credentials will be considered)
  • Independent work style with capacity to manage complex, extended projects autonomously
  • Expertise in commodities sector, especially animal proteins, animal byproducts (grease, tallow), biofuels, or agricultural markets
  • Ability to extract insights beyond quantitative data (producer engagement, supply chain comprehension)

Preferred:

  • Experience with leading commodity research firms or agricultural organizations
  • Doctoral degree in applicable discipline
  • Proficiency in cloud computing and front-end development technologies
  • Extensive commodity research portfolio
  • Equity: Opportunity for limited dilution participation (specifics to be determined)
  • Base Salary: $145,000 - $185,000 (negotiable for outstanding candidates)

Location & Work Arrangement
