Our flagship office is in Sydney, Australia, but we've made our way from down under, to a campus in Austin, Texas which is now home to our US operations. 

About the Role/Specialty

As the Business Development Leader supporting AMER—you’ll build on a strong foundation while charting our path forward. You’ll lead a team of BDRs and one direct manager, and work hand in hand with sales leaders across Mid-Market, Enterprise, and Strategic segments. You’ll also work cross-functionally with Ops, Enablement, and Marketing. This is a role that blends hiring, coaching, strategy, and cross-functional coordination. Your primary focus will be to identify growth opportunities, and support revenue generation across multiple markets. This role will involve managing a team, collaborating with global stakeholders, and strategically fostering new business relationships.

What you’ll do

  • You will lead, mentor, and manage a team of Business Development professionals, coaching to weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics alongside support and mentorship to ensure their success.
  • You will develop and implement strategies to expand Canva's sales pipeline presence in the North American region.
  • You will identify and cultivate strategic partnerships and business opportunities that drive growth and revenue in these regions.
  • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success, and Marketing Operations to ensure alignment and successful execution of business development strategies.
  • You will analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs to provide insights and recommendations for business expansion and product development.
  • You will coach a team establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and industry partners using a specific and relevant Sales Process.

What we're looking for

  • 3-5 Years of Business Development Manager experience with a consistent track record of performance against metrics
  • 3-5 Years of Experience in B2B SaaS sales with a track record of success selling to MidMarket and Enterprise customers
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Strong track record in setting and achieving outreach, pipeline, and conversion KPIs.
  • Passion for hiring and developing talent—someone excited by career progression and building leadership pipelines.
  • Passion for experimenting with how we can leverage AI to drive efficiency and impact.
  • Data-driven mindset—able to translate metrics into action and scale performance.
  • Excellent collaborator: you’ll work with Sales, Marketing, Enablement, and Product regularly.
  • Experience with tools like Salesforce, LinkedIn Navigator, ZoomInfo, or similar is a plus.
