HR Manager/Sr Manager

Synchron is a neurotechnology company building a minimally invasive brain-computer interface to restore digital access for people with paralysis. We are hiring an HR Manager/Sr. Manager to be the sole HR lead, building foundational HR processes, managing full-cycle talent operations, and shaping employee experience as the company scales.

Skills

  • 5+ years HR experience in fast-paced, scaling startups
  • Hands-on experience with ATS (Greenhouse), HRIS and payroll systems
  • Strong knowledge of compliance and multi-state labor laws (NYC a must; CA a plus)
  • Proven ability to design and run performance reviews, onboarding, and L&D initiatives
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting: write/post job descriptions, run kickoff meetings, conduct screens, manage interview plans in Greenhouse, and handle offers and employment documentation.
  • Own onboarding and offboarding: coordinate pre-hire activities, day-one orientation, I-9/W-4, HRIS/payroll/benefits setup, and lifecycle changes (promotions, terminations, title changes).
  • Manage payroll and compliance: partner with Finance to process payroll, maintain employee records, and ensure federal, state, and local labor law compliance.
  • Design and run employee experience programs: lead performance review cycles, career development, engagement surveys, and talent reviews.
  • Administer benefits and act as the internal benefits contact; coordinate with brokers and support renewals and employee questions.
  • Support employee relations: provide confidential counsel, assist with investigations, and maintain documentation.
  • Drive culture and events: coordinate company events, town halls, investor visits, and help scale company values.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field (required)
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR/SHRM-CP) preferred
