Organization Overview 

Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to those transitioning from or at risk of homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. Additionally, we implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veteran services, and health care sectors.

Program Summary 

Brilliant Corners’ People Operations Department provides our organization structure and the ability to meet its business needs through managing the company’s most valuable resources- its employees. People Operations key functions include talent acquisition; employee relations; payroll and benefits; people management; compliance; and organizational development. 

 

Position Summary  

The Human Resources Business Partner supports our statewide organization and leadership team. You will work closely with the HR Manager, to support the Talent Strategy, Organizational Development and HR programs and initiatives driving Brilliant Corner’s business objectives.   

The Human Resources Business Partner will build internal business partnerships and drive projects that support the organizations strategic objectives. This position requires that the individual be able to build and maintain relationships with senior level leadership as well as employees at all levels. Key success factors are the ability to drive change, challenge the status quo and offer creative solutions to address business needs. In addition, the Human Resources Business Partner is familiar and will stay abreast of California Employment law and other required jurisdictions.  

You will excel in this role if you have the capacity for relationship building across the organization with a diverse employee population. This role is heavily focused on employee relations, strategic thinking, and training, while keeping the employee and organization’s best interests. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Conducts weekly, biweekly or monthly meetings with respective business unit leaders.  
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations. 
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal counsel as needed/required. 
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). Including, strategic partnership for business units as it relates to all areas of the program’s functions.  
  • Supports People Operations initiatives, projects, and goals. This will include working heavily with our organizational development department and talent acquisition teams.  
  • Partners with Learning and Development to deliver leadership training programs and curriculum to enhance employee skills and support organizational growth. 
  • Collaborates with leadership to identify training needs and create development plans to address skill gaps and future growth opportunities.  
  • Partner with union stakeholders to address employee needs and advance shared initiatives. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability 

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). 
  • Demonstrated ability to work on complex legal cases and provide strategic partnership with legal counsel. 
  • Prior experience with union processes and employee relations is strongly preferred 
  • Knowledge of staffing policies, procedures, and best practices. 
  • Fluency with standard technology and software, including databases, and the capacity to quickly master new technology, as needed. 
  • Effective communication both written and verbal with colleagues in a diverse, human-centered work environment. 
  • Ability to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. 
  • Excellent customer service, sales, and relationship-building skills. 
  • The ability to work independently as well as on a team.

Physical Requirements 

Candidates should have physical mobility for tasks such as standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces. They should be capable of performing stationary tasks like sitting for up to 6 to 8 hours a day.  Additionally, candidates should be able to lift, carry, push, pull light to moderate weights up to 15 pounds safely. Requires mental acuity for analytical reasoning and document interpretation.  

 

Salary range for this position is $99,425 - $102,500 annually. This position is being offered at $90,000-$100,000 annually
