About the Role:
We are seeking a forward-thinking People Policy & Governance Manager to shape and scale our global People foundation. This role goes beyond drafting policies; it builds the structures, programs, and systems that allow managers and Employee Success Partners (ESPs) to lead confidently. You will ensure our People practices are consistent, compliant, and business-aligned, enabling the function to act as a growth accelerator.
This highly visible individual contributor role blends strategic design and hands-on execution. You will partner with People Team leadership, Legal, Accounting (Tax), Finance, Safety, InfoSec/Security, and Workplace to anticipate risk, simplify complexity, and deliver scalable and practical solutions.
The scope of this role is global, with responsibility for compliance and governance programs across the United States and EMEA. You will serve as a People Team contact for matters related to wage and hour compliance, worker classification, immigration, pre-employment screening, and other employment practice risks that connect policy, compliance, and operations.
What You'll Be Working On:
Policy & Governance
Lead the review, harmonization, and simplification of global People policies to ensure clarity, scalability, and compliance across the US and EMEA.
Partner with Legal and Finance to design and maintain effective internal controls, documentation, and reporting standards.
Maintain and refresh employment documentation (offer letters, agreements, handbooks) to ensure consistency and alignment with local requirements.
Monitor policy effectiveness and surface opportunities for simplification or improvement.
Employment Compliance Programs (Background Checks & Drug & Alcohol)
Own global background screening and adjudication frameworks, ensuring fairness and consistency across jurisdictions.
Lead and continuously improve the company’s drug and alcohol compliance program, balancing regulatory requirements with employee experience, and partnering cross-functionally to align policies and enforcement practices globally.
Partner with Legal, People Ops, Accounting (Tax), Finance, Safety, InfoSec/Security, and Workplace to define, implement, and, when needed, enforce frameworks, guidelines, policies, and practices that ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
Collaborate cross-functionally to assess and document labor and contractor classifications, ensuring compliance with FLSA, EU directives, and local employment regulations.
Deliver training and enablement for ESPs and managers to interpret results and apply compliance frameworks correctly.
Global Mobility & Immigration Programs
Serve as global program administrator for immigration and mobility programs.
Manage vendors, case pipelines, and compliance tracking for visas, work permits, relocations, and international assignments.
Build processes that streamline internal and external hiring for ESPs and Recruiting partners.
Track costs, risks, and employee experience metrics for mobility programs.
Enablement & Partnership
Develop toolkits, guides, and training (with L&D) that empower managers and ESPs to apply policies effectively and consistently.
Partner with Employee Relations to ensure policies are applied objectively and fairly across the business.
Translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into clear, practical guidance for employees and leaders.
Collaborate cross-functionally to communicate policy updates in a clear, consistent, and employee-centric way.
Governance & Reporting
Build and maintain governance routines to audit compliance across policies, background checks, drug and alcohol testing, immigration, and wage and hour practices.
Develop monitoring routines for worker classification, pay equity, and other labor-related risks to ensure global consistency and accountability.
Deliver reports and insights to senior leadership on program effectiveness, findings, and compliance health.
Partner with People Analytics to measure adoption, trends, and the impact of governance programs on employee experience.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
7+ years of HR, compliance, or employment law experience in a fast-moving, global environment.
Deep knowledge of employment law, wage and hour, and classification frameworks across the US and EMEA.
Experience building and maintaining compliance and governance programs across multiple jurisdictions.
