Do you have experience processing payroll, benefits, and/or time tracking for a group of employees? The Employee Services Division of the Oregon Department of Corrections is currently recruiting for a Payroll Analyst position within the Payroll Unit.
This is a permanent position that may be located anywhere in the state of Oregon, with the final work location determined at the time of appointment. The position is approved for hybrid remote work; however, periodic on-site presence will be required, as agreed upon with the manager. You must be a current State of Oregon employee to apply. (Contract workers are not eligible.)
This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
The Payroll Analyst plays a key role in ensuring payroll accuracy by reviewing and providing guidance to employees, managers, and human resources staff on entries into payroll and benefit systems. This position provides critical support to the Department’s payroll program, which is responsible for the timely and accurate payment of approximately 4,700 employees across multiple stand-alone payroll offices. This role involves reviewing and analyzing reports, applying fundamental bookkeeping, payroll, and benefits practices in accordance with agency policies, collective bargaining agreements, and state and federal regulations.

This position involves frequent interaction with executives, managers, and staff both inside and outside the organization. The role requires professionalism, diplomacy, and strict confidentiality. The ability to manage multiple tasks at once often under tight deadlines is essential. Strong communication and coordination with business partners is required. Travel to meetings and trainings may be necessary. The position also involves frequent interruptions, time-sensitive responsibilities, and occasional non-traditional working hours.
Work is performed in a hybrid or fully remote setting. In-office work occurs in a cubicle environment with potential for ongoing noise and distractions. The role requires extended periods of computer use and frequent videoconferencing. Use of standard office equipment is expected. Tasks often involve sitting for long periods, and vacation time may be limited during critical deadline periods.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.
