Administrative Services Coordinator - job 1 of 2

The City of Fort Worth Development Services department is seeking an Administrative Services Coordinator to serve as the lead Human Resource Coordinator and supervise support staff. The role partners closely with the City HR department to manage onboarding, payroll/timekeeping, personnel records, policy development, and employee relations to ensure consistent, compliant HR operations across the department.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Capital Management or similar HRIS
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with payroll/timekeeping processes
  • Knowledge of hiring/termination, disciplinary actions, and FMLA procedures
  • Ability to draft and maintain policies, procedures, and process documentation
  • Experience supervising staff and conducting employee performance management
  • Analytical skills for HR reporting and basic project management
  • Familiarity with worker's compensation filing processes

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead HR coordinator for Development Services and supervise HR support staff.
  • Partner with City Human Resources to ensure hiring, terminations, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and FMLA processes are followed.
  • Prepare and distribute complete onboarding materials and ensure new hires are trained in time entry.
  • Maintain appropriate HR and medical records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Oversee payroll/timekeeping processes and resolve related issues department-wide.
  • Interpret personnel rules and provide guidance to supervisors and employees to ensure consistency.
  • Draft, review, update, and finalize department policies and procedures.
  • Prepare monthly reports on turnover, absenteeism, FML, disciplinary actions, and other HR metrics.
  • Represent the department at HR meetings and trainings and act as primary contact for HR deadlines and assignments.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation for salaries, benefits, and turnover estimates.
  • Ensure mandatory training compliance for department personnel.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, human resources, or related field preferred
  • Candidates without the degree may be considered if they have substantially more relevant work experience
