Tandem is a generational opportunity to rethink how we bring new therapies to market, and our path to doing so is significantly de-risked – we have:
Exponential organic growth: We have product-market fit and are growing rapidly through word-of-mouth. Tandem supports thousands of patients every day, is doubling doctor users every quarter, and is working with the largest biopharma companies in the world.
An AI-first business model: Our approach is distinctly enabled by AI, but our business will get stronger (not commoditized) as foundation models improve. We are building durability through two-sided network effects that will compound over time.
Top tier investors: With the traction to support conviction in our model, we raised significant funding from investors (Thrive Capital and General Catalyst) to build an exceptional team of engineers and operators.
Our number one priority is scaling to market demand. We are looking for individuals who are high horsepower, high throughput, and hyper resourceful to help us increase capacity and grow. We move fast and need to move faster.
All full-time roles are in person in New York. You can learn more about working with us in the last section of this page.
We are looking for a People Operations professional to build and scale the systems, programs, and processes that power our team. You’ll ensure that Tandem’s people infrastructure — spanning onboarding, compensation, benefits, compliance, performance, and culture — runs smoothly, efficiently, and with excellence.
You will serve as the operational backbone for the employee lifecycle and a strategic partner to leaders across the company. This role blends execution and strategy: building scalable systems while staying close to the day-to-day employee experience.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who loves precision, thrives in ambiguity, and takes pride in operational excellence. If you are deeply organized, data-driven, and motivated by helping exceptional people do their best work, we want to meet you.
Own and optimize end-to-end people processes: onboarding, offboarding, benefits, compensation, performance, compliance, and engagement
Maintain data integrity across HR systems (HRIS, payroll, ATS) and serve as the system administrator for core people tools
Partner with Finance on payroll, headcount planning, and compensation cycles
Ensure compliance with all employment regulations and internal policy standards
Build scalable frameworks and SOPs for hiring, feedback, and employee development
Work with leadership to improve the employee experience — from first day to last
Manage and track key people metrics and reporting to enable better decision-making
Lead and support company-wide programs (e.g., engagement surveys, performance reviews, recognition programs)
Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees — handling questions with empathy, discretion, and clarity
Drive operational excellence by continuously identifying opportunities to automate, simplify, or improve existing processes
2–7 years of experience in people operations, HR, or business operations in a fast-paced environment (startups, consulting, or scaling tech companies preferred)
Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills; you’re comfortable with data, spreadsheets, and workflows
Experience managing HRIS and related tools (e.g., Rippling, Gusto, Justworks, Workday, etc.)
Excellent judgment and confidentiality — you handle sensitive information with care
Strong written and verbal communication skills; you bring clarity and calm to complexity
A builder’s mindset — you enjoy designing from zero and scaling what works
Curiosity and intellectual horsepower; you learn fast and stay rigorous
A sense of ownership — you don’t just identify problems, you fix them
Comfort with ambiguity, change, and moving at high velocity
This is a list of ideal qualifications for this position. If you don't meet every single one of them, you should still consider applying! We’re excited to work with people from underrepresented backgrounds, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
