We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team. This is a critical, quota-carrying sales role focused on developing and leveraging relationships within the capital markets, specifically with private equity (PE) firms. Your main goal will be to create a new sales channel by influencing PE partners to advocate for our products and services within their portfolio companies. You'll work closely with our field sales team to identify key opportunities and provide strategic guidance, ultimately driving new revenue and expanding our market presence.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key partners at private equity firms, focusing on those with portfolio companies that align with our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
Strategic Influence: Develop and execute a strategy to influence PE partners to actively champion our solutions to their portfolio company leadership
Pipeline Generation: Collaborate with our field sales representatives to identify and prioritize portfolio companies as potential customers. Provide them with the necessary tools, introductions, and insights to accelerate their sales cycles
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between the private equity community and our internal teams, including sales, marketing, and product. You will ensure a unified and effective approach to this new channel
Market Intelligence: Stay informed on market trends, PE firm strategies, and the competitive landscape to identify new opportunities and inform our goto-market approach
Performance Metrics: Meet and exceed sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to pipeline creation, deal influence, and new customer acquisition from the PE channel
Experience & Expertise: You'll need at least 8-10 years of experience in sales or business development with a proven track record of exceeding quotas. We are looking for someone who has worked in or sold to the financial services sector—specifically to private equity, venture capital, or investment banking firms—and who already has established, senior-level relationships in these spaces
Strategic Acumen: This is a key role where you'll be building a new sales channel from scratch, so you must be able to think strategically and identify key leverage points for growth
Collaboration & Results: You should be a natural collaborator who can work effectively in a matrixed organization and partner with field reps to achieve shared goals. We need a proactive, results-oriented individual with a strong sense of ownership and urgency
Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must, with the ability to quickly build rapport and trust with high-level executives
Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field is required
