Customer Operations connects all of these brands to the people who use them. Whether supporting a business scaling with Square, a Cash App customer exploring new financial tools, a shopper checking out with Afterpay, or an artist streaming on TIDAL, we help make these experiences work. By supporting every corner of Block, we make sure our brands can continue to grow, adapt, and deliver on their missions.

The Role

The Learning Design team drives the creation of scalable, high-impact training across Square, Afterpay, and Cash App. Sitting within Customer Operations, this team ensures learning is designed with industry best practices, regulatory alignment, and real-time enablement in mind. As Senior Lead, you’ll shape the strategy for all learning design, lead a team of Learning Design Leads, and deliver programs that improve frontline performance and operational outcomes. Your impact will be felt globally as you drive consistency, scalability, and innovation across brands and geographies.

You Will

  • Lead the design strategy for all learning programs across brands, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and business outcomes.
  • Oversee the creation of modular, scalable, and measurable learning assets in multiple formats (e.g., digital, blended, microlearning).
  • Partner with operational leaders, SMEs, and BPO partners to design training that is relevant, timely, and directly tied to frontline performance.
  • Ensure all materials are compliant with regulatory requirements and aligned with brand voice, policies, and service standards.
  • Introduce and sustain design best practices, leveraging emerging technologies and data insights to continually improve design impact.
  • Manage Learning Design Leads, fostering capability growth, collaboration, and accountability.

You Have

  • 6+ years of experience in Learning Design, Learning & Development (L&D), or performance enablement with a portfolio of programs that delivered measurable business impact.
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams and learning programs, including directly managing other managers or team leads.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing learning design teams and scale quality and consistency across multiple brands, geographies, or business units.
  • Deep expertise in instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and learning science, with practical experience applying these to digital, blended, and modular learning solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with digital learning tools, platforms, and emerging technologies to innovate and modernize design approaches.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner with SMEs, BPOs, and operational leaders to deliver timely, relevant, and compliant learning experiences.
  • Demonstrated change leadership and influence skills to drive adoption of design best practices and alignment with business priorities.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments where adaptability, data-driven insights, and creativity are essential.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
