JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Benefits, this role is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of retirement plans across North America (U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico). The position encompasses plan design, compliance, vendor management, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment with the broader Total Rewards strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design, development, and administration of retirement benefit programs to support employee engagement, market competitiveness, and financial stewardship.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for multiple external vendors, ensuring integration, performance, and adherence to service level agreements and guarantees.
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments; collaborate with ERISA and external legal counsel to ensure ongoing compliance of all retirement plans.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking to inform plan design recommendations, considering jurisdictional requirements across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
  • Partner with Legal to draft and amend plan documents, including eligibility criteria and plan components.
  • Provide expert guidance on plan complexities, including support during M&A activities and as a key resource for HR Business Partners across North America.
  • Plan Oversight:
    • Manage U.S. and Puerto Rico pension plans, including legacy Final Average Pay and legacy closed Cash Balance Plan participants.
    • Oversee Canadian retirement programs, including RRSPs and pensions.
    • Administer Deferred Compensation and Restoration Plans, including annual enrollment and distributions.
    • Support the Board of Directors’ Plan in partnership with Treasury and Finance.
  • Partner with internal teams (Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Treasury, Payroll, IT, HR Operations) to ensure alignment and operational efficiency.
    • Collaboration with the BD Associate Service Center (ASC): Support routine plan operations, including BD contribution and funding analyses, resolution of plan violations or corrections, and overall plan management. Address and resolve complex escalations from the including matters related to distributions, vesting, and service credit discrepancies.
  • Lead the development and delivery of retirement program communications, disclosures, and educational sessions for employees and retirees.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to plan administration and operational processes.
  • Monitor Corporate-Owned Life Insurance policies to ensure compliance with IRS regulations and proper policy structure.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a focus in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; advanced degree and CBP or CEBS certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in retirement benefits design, integration, and administration within a large, complex organization required (Fortune 500 experience preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and Puerto Rican retirement plan regulations required, including contribution limits, distributions, and compliance requirements. Strong understanding of federal and local employee benefit laws and their impact on plan design required.
  • Experience with COLI administration and deferred compensation plans required
  • Experience providing guidance on retirement plan complexities during Merger & Acquisition (M&A) activities preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint required ; experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels required.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment required
