HR Operations Manager - job 1 of 4

Via is a technology company modernizing public transportation and transit operations. The company seeks a hands-on HR Operations Manager to support frontline/hourly employees (primarily drivers) in Mobile, AL, managing HR processes, compliance, employee relations, payroll/benefits coordination, and local engagement while partnering closely with the core HR team.

Skills

  • Experience in HR operations and employee relations supporting frontline/hourly staff
  • Knowledge of employment laws and compliance (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.)
  • Experience with payroll and benefits administration
  • HRIS proficiency and strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for sensitive situations
  • Investigations and conflict resolution experience
  • Organized, process-driven, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Manage full employee lifecycle for frontline/hourly staff: onboarding, orientation, pre-employment checks, and offboarding.
  • Serve as a trusted employee resource, handle inquiries, conduct investigations, and resolve workplace issues.
  • Implement and enforce HR policies, oversee workers’ compensation and unemployment processes, and ensure labor law compliance.
  • Support payroll accuracy, benefits enrollment, and employee education on compensation and benefits.
  • Lead local engagement, recognition, and culture-building initiatives aligned with company values.
  • Provide operational and office support as needed, including vendor relationships and local logistics.
  • Act as liaison with unions and ensure alignment with collective bargaining agreements where applicable.
  • Partner with Via’s core HR team to standardize processes and share best practices.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
