Who we’re looking for

The Corporate Development & Partnerships team at Toyota is an agile unit dedicated to driving external investment and partnership solutions, significantly contributing to the company's strategic objectives and fostering innovation and growth.  Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Development & Partnerships, the Director will oversee the identification and evaluation of potential investment, partnership, and M&A opportunities that align with corporate and business unit goals.

This role involves managing all stages of the deal and partnership process, from target identification to closing and integration, ensuring thorough assessments for strategic fit, financial viability, and alignment with long-term objectives. Additionally, the Director will lead a team of manager-level direct reports and collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Finance, Legal, and select business units, to facilitate due diligence and integration planning.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and execute strategies to drive Toyota’s growth by leveraging insights to identify potential investments, acquisitions, strategic alliances, and expansion opportunities.  

  • Collaborate with executive leadership and business units to align corporate development initiatives with Toyota’s strategic vision and business objectives.

  • Oversee cross-functional due diligence teams, assessing the financial, operational, and regulatory aspects of deals to ensure comprehensive evaluations.

  • Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions for acquisitions or partnerships, while fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement integration plans, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders.

  • Provide detailed recommendations and secure approvals from executive leadership regarding potential transactions and partnerships.

  • Track and report on the performance of completed transactions and partnerships, utilizing metrics to assess success and inform future strategies.

  • Enhance deal evaluation and execution processes to ensure efficient and timely decision-making.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or management consulting

  • Extensive experience in financial modeling, due diligence, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to drive financial strategy and support business decisions.

  • Proven track record of leading successful transactions, including minority investments, joint ventures, strategic partnerships and M&A.

  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to build and mentor a team of professionals.

  • Exceptional negotiation and decision-making skills, with a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior management.

  • Clear and persuasive communication skills, capable of visualizing and explaining complex financial strategies

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Added bonus if you have

  • MBA

  • Experience leading a Corporate Development team specifically in automotive or technology sectors

  • Knowledge of regulatory and financial reporting standards, with experience in risk management and compliance.
