Integration & Test Engineer (Falcon 9) - 2nd Shift - job 1 of 3

SpaceX is an aerospace company developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Integration & Test Engineer (Falcon 9) on 2nd shift will oversee build and test processes for pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural subassemblies, support design-for-manufacturability, develop production-qualified test procedures, and drive process improvements to scale high-volume aerospace hardware production.

Skills

  • Experience building and testing fluid and/or electrical systems
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural assemblies
  • Familiarity with test equipment: pumps, valves, heaters, instrumentation, DAQ, and automation
  • Proficiency in scientific/computer languages (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Experience with fluid/electrical system simulation and automation testing
  • Data reduction and post-processing experience
  • Mechanical component and tooling design and 3D CAD experience
  • Knowledge of metallic manufacturing: machining, welding, drilling, and automation
  • Experience working with GD&T and complex tolerance stack-ups
  • Experience developing processes from R&D to high-volume manufacturing
  • Experience writing work instructions and procedures for critical aerospace parts
  • Prior production environment experience within the aerospace industry

Responsibilities

  • Oversee build and test processes for pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural Falcon subassemblies, with emphasis on Falcon Heavy separation systems
  • Collaborate with design engineers to transition concepts into qualified, production-capable mechanisms
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability and define test requirements in a production environment
  • Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing and test processes from prototype to high-volume production
  • Create and implement industry-first standards and best practices for hardware manufacturability
  • Interface with engineers, subject matter experts, technicians, and quality teams to resolve production challenges
  • Design and implement tooling and test solutions to enable consistent, high-quality builds
  • Rapidly resolve non-conformances and support root cause corrective action implementation
  • Plan and execute capital equipment and layout upgrades to meet production demand
  • Mentor team members on engineering tasks and promote technical excellence across the team

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics required (or equivalent)
  • Internship and project team experience applicable
