Skills
- Experience with CAD and FEA software packages
- Proficient use of hand calculations for structural and thermal analysis
- Knowledge of design for manufacturability and high-volume production considerations
- Understanding of vibration, shock, and fatigue design/analysis
- Familiarity with GD&T and production drawings
- Experience collaborating with PCB designers and understanding PCB constraints
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical packaging solutions for electro-mechanical and avionics assemblies
- Perform thermal, structural, and tolerance analysis using hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA)
- Create 3D models, production drawings, and maintain design data
- Conduct failure analysis related to thermal loads, vibration, shock, and fatigue
- Interface with machine shops, suppliers, and production teams to ensure manufacturability
- Own hardware delivery from concept through assembly, test, and integration
- Lead and participate in internal and supplier design reviews
- Optimize designs to meet weight and production rate targets
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (required)
- Additional coursework or experience in structural analysis, thermal analysis, or materials is beneficial
