Field Test Engineer
Skills
- 3+ years performing environmental testing in climatic and dynamic environments.
- Strong working knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and STANAG 4370 requirements and test methods.
- Experience with test apparatus: shakers, environmental chambers, sensors, DAQ systems.
- Proficient in data acquisition, automation, and post-processing workflows.
- Ability to develop clear test plans, procedures, and formal test reports.
- Comfortable with hands-on lab and field work, including lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs and extended travel.
- Experience working with external test facilities and DVT/qualification test campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and execute environmental test plans (climatic and dynamic) for optical systems and subsystems.
- Design test setups and specify/operate test apparatus including shakers, environmental chambers, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
- Collect, analyze, and post-process test data; produce clear test reports and technical documentation.
- Coordinate and lead test readiness reviews, design reviews, and safety reviews with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support ground and airborne platform testing, including travel to test sites and supervision of external test facilities.
- Perform reliability testing and manufacturing sustainment activities to improve product robustness.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software teams to translate requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-810, STANAG) into verification activities.
- Work hands-on with hardware in noisy/outdoor environments and safely lift and move test equipment as required.
Education
- Minimum BS in an engineering discipline (mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or related).
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
