About The Team:


You will be joining a fast-moving and rapidly growing team dedicated to acquiring, engaging, and retaining learners around the world. To meet these objectives, you'll collaborate closely with cutting-edge leaders across product, marketing, content, and engineering to drive growth through business development and strategic partnerships. 


About The Role:


We’re looking for a Head of Business Development to build a new go-to-market motion within Quizlet. This role will be responsible for developing partner strategy, as well as sourcing, evaluating, executing, and managing partnerships that drive significant user growth and progress of the company’s key initiatives.

You will own the data-driven assessment of business cases for strategic opportunities, from initial financial analysis and due diligence through to tracking performance against key metrics and proactively identifying opportunities for mutual growth. You'll work closely with senior leadership, product, marketing, legal and revenue teams to deliver these partnerships. 


The role of Head of Business Development is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate who is entrepreneurial in nature and highly self-directed. Success in the role will prove the value of partnerships and lay the foundation for building and scaling a team.


We’re happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office. To help foster team collaboration, we require that employees be in the office a minimum of three days per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and as needed by your manager or the company. We believe that this working environment facilitates increased work efficiency, team partnership, and supports growth as an employee and organization.


In this role, you will:
  • Develop and execute a strategy for platform partnerships in service of driving growth and engagement on Quizlet
  • Lead the process of identifying partnerships to pursue, including building the business case through strategic/financial analysis and due diligence 
  • Coordinate negotiation, deal execution, and partner management across relevant teams including legal, product, engineering, finance, and marketing
  • Monitor and evaluate partnerships using key metrics, driving improvements for mutual success 
  • Maintain strong relationships with partners to ensure long-term success
  • Build relationships with leaders at emerging and established companies, and actively monitor, synthesize, inform, and action off industry trends and opportunities


What you bring to the table:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of work experience in business development with major strategic partnerships, preferably involving technology and B2C partnerships in an international/global context
  • Demonstrated success in structuring, negotiating, and closing complex partnership agreements that drive business growth
  • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, navigates ambiguity with ease, displays a high competency for data, and focuses on delivering measurable business results 
  • Experience in performing broad quantitative analysis with a passion for consumer technology
  • Strong technical expertise enabling understanding of complex technical concepts, effective communication with engineering and product teams, and the ability to translate between business needs and technical requirements
  • Exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills, and the ability to develop effective relationships inside and outside of Quizlet
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize strategically
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
  • Open to traveling as needed to develop and manage partner relationships

Compensation, Benefits & Perks:

Salary transparency helps to mitigate unfair hiring practices when it comes to discrimination and pay gaps.  Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a starting base salary of $185,000 - $255,000, depending on location and experience, as well as company stock options
