Business Development Representative

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a driven and high-energy Business Development Representative for outside tech sales in managed services. (In other companies this person could hold the title of Account Executive, Sales Executive, or Outside Sales Representative.) 

In this role, you will join a collaborative sales team that's dedicated to growing our client base and maximizing IT solutions for our clients. You’ll establish and manage your own book of business, working closely with your clients to introduce them to the wide range of managed services offered by Verus and our expert technical teams. By building strong relationships and taking the time to understand each client’s unique technology and business needs, you’ll deliver tailored solutions designed specifically for them.

To be successful in this role, you should be detail-oriented, proactive, and an excellent communicator. You’ll need to be goal-driven and confident in generating your own leads, while also demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to engage senior decision-makers. Success in this position requires persistence through outbound sales cycles and a deep understanding of customer needs. Familiarity with managed services, especially in cybersecurity, networking, or other IT solutions, is a strong asset. Experience with CRM platforms, navigating long sales cycles, and maintaining a customer-first approach will further set you up for success.

General job duties include: 

  • Identify, prospect, and close new business opportunities in targeted industries including legal, manufacturing, healthcare, and finance. 

  • Conduct cold outreach, attend events, and leverage referral channels to build a robust pipeline. 

  • Deliver compelling presentations and proposals tailored to client needs. 

  • Lead face-to-face sales engagements with confidence and professionalism. 

  • Collaborate with marketing on strategies to improve lead generation and messaging. 

  • Track and report regularly on sales funnel metrics and competitive insights. 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications: 

  • 3–5 years of experience in B2B sales within IT or Managed Services Provider (MSP) space. 

  • Proven success as a hunter in outbound sales and cold prospecting. 

  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, managed services, and cybersecurity offerings. 

  • Strong consultative selling abilities and negotiation skills. 

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to travel locally to client sites and attend networking events. Requires in-person presence at our Coon Rapids, MN office. 

Compensation: 

The base compensation is expected to start at $70,000+, with variable compensation bringing estimated OTE to approximately $130,000+ annually. Our offer will be determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise , and may vary from the amount listed above.
