The Senior Training and Education Program Manager contributes to the development and execution of programs to enhance field leadership and selling skills. This role’s impact can extend far by enriching career growth and influence selling strategy across all operating units within Neuroscience, Medical Surgical, and Cardiovascular Portfolios.
You can expect to collaborate across the functional areas of sales leadership, marketing, clinical training, external vendors, and the Americas Commercial Training Department. This role’s common functions include annual planning, strategic training requests, course development, and course facilitation. This position offers an opportunity to bring your unique experience and collaborative skills to the forefront of our US sales teams.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for planning, initiating, monitoring, tracking and/or prioritizing sales and marketing support projects and process improvement initiatives and facilitate successful, on-time and within budget execution.
Sets clear direction and management that aligns with defined practices and policies and enhances the organization's support function necessary to meet established sales or market share targets.
Interacts and works closely with other departments, such as but not limited to Sales, Marketing, & Global Comms & Corporate Marketing to ensure adequate support to the sales and marketing functions.
Directs day to day activities for multiple work-stream teams through managing project plans, resourcing, status reporting, resolving issues, identifying project risks and accountability for deliverables across multiple functional organizations.
Establishes meaningful metrics.
Responsible for project performance, risk management, administration, financial management, budgeting and issue resolution.
Work with sales leaders to assess current and expected leadership development needs for existing and future sales managers.
Work directly with service team leaders to assess current and expected needs for clinical specialists and technical field engineers.
A primary objective will be to work within the Americas Commercial Training to meet the needs of the field teams, however at times it may be required to seek and/or maintain external vendor relationships.
Building and execute annual plans to meet the assessed training and development needs of the field sales and sales leadership teams in a timely fashion.
Acting as a point of contact to match existing resources to field sales needs.
Facilitate up to 4-5 in-person or virtual sales training courses per month.
Maintain a close relationship with field HR partners; align training with talent planning; meet or exceed organizational objectives for diversity and inclusion.
Develop and implement a robust system to measure training efficacy, satisfaction, and impact. These key performance indicators must align with the overall Americas Commercial Training objectives and will serve as in indication of success. Coordinate with Americas Commercial Training Analytics Manager on monthly dashboard.
Work closely with our project coordinator to determine the number of course offerings, set course dates, deliver field communications, monitor registration, meet budget needs, ensure completion of attendee course pre-work, and maintain a high attendance rate.
Create a well-defined post course follow-up process that ensures training concepts are reinforced and attendees put what they’ve learned into practice.
Collaborate with OU clinical training teams to help deliver new hire sales training.
Collaborate with OU marketing teams to create synergies between course content and marketing/sales messaging.
Contribute to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement and repeatable success.
Maintain awareness of emerging trends in adult learning and virtual education tools.
Align development offerings and course content with the mission and strategic narrative of Medtronic.
Align to the Americas Commercial Training and Global Commercial Operations pan-Medtronic vision.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 7 years of Medical Device Sales/Service, Adult Learning, or a Program leadership experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years Medical Device Sales/Service, Adult Learning, or a Program leadership experience
Nice to Have
Masters degree or adult education certification
10 or more years experience in Medical Device Sales/Service, Adult Learning, or a Program leadership role
Project management experience
Ability to facilitate early morning/late evening training/occasional weekend courses
Experience with influence management and working across multi-functional teams.
Medtronic Leadership Experience
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal functional representatives
Ability to travel domestically 50%
