You will be required to work on-site at one of our regional site locations: California and Colorado/ Minnesota locations four (4) days per week. This on-site presence is crucial to fostering collaboration and maintaining a strong connection with our team and the workplace environment. This position will be located at the Tempe, AZ campus.


The key job responsibilities of the Distinguished Engineer are as follows:

• Lead the Architecture definition , design / Verification Strategy of ultra-low power Systems On Chip (SOCs) to meet OU system performance and new features needs.
• Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning,
• design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
• Drive chip architecture, analog design flows and system level simulation and verification planning.
• Oversees definition, design, verification, and documentation for ASIC development for a variety of products.
• Work with internal customers to understand their needs and use cases.
• Perform feasibility analysis
• Develop test chips to confirm process and circuit performance.
• Provide design support for test engineers developing ATE test solutions.
• Direct and review IC layout activities.
• Characterization of ICs using standard bench lab equipment.
• Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
• Frequent inter-organizational contacts. Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
• Conduct reviews to ensure device quality, capability and functional requirements.
• Interface with product engineering, test engineering, research engineering and firmware engineering in a team environment.
• Ability to perform as a technical lead

Must Have: Minimum Requirements:  To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field. 
  • 15 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 13 years relevant experience OR PhD with 11 years relevant experience.

In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a short-term incentive plan, which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.  Learn more about Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP) here. 

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc. ​

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$196,000.00 - $294,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
