Manufacturing Engineer (Tank Weldment/Formed Structures)
Skills
- Knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques: welding, metal forming, fastening, drilling, bonding
- Experience with build, assembly, or integration of large mechanical assemblies
- Familiarity with 3D CAD and mechanical/tooling design
- Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) experience
- Process development, qualification, and documentation (work instructions/procedures)
- Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
Responsibilities
- Own build and inspection processes for structural assembly and integration of Falcon launch vehicle components
- Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery requirements
- Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve production-scale challenges
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability and advise on implementation in a fast-moving production environment
- Resolve product non-conformances and work with quality to implement root cause corrective actions
- Plan and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to meet volume production demand
- Develop and refine floor layouts, capacity models, and product flow to ensure on-time delivery
Education
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, materials, or industrial engineering (required)
- Master's degree in related field (preferred)
