Head of Business Development

Faire is a fast-growing online wholesale marketplace powering independent retailers with technology, data, and machine learning. We are seeking a Head of Business Development to define and scale our BD function, lead high-impact partnerships across growth, distribution, product enablement and monetization, and stand up early corporate development capabilities. This role reports to the CFO and requires a strategic, builder mindset to operationalize partnerships and influence cross-functionally.

Skills

  • Proven experience sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and closing complex partnerships and commercial agreements
  • Strong strategic judgment and analytical rigor to prioritize high-leverage BD opportunities
  • Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration with Product, GTM, Finance, and Legal
  • Experience building repeatable BD processes, playbooks, and deal hygiene systems
  • Ability to build business cases, financial models, and partner narratives for executive stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the BD strategy and partnership roadmap across strategic deals, growth partners, product enablement, and monetization
  • Manage full partner lifecycle from sourcing through negotiation, launch, and long-term relationship management
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, GTM, Finance, and Legal to align deals to roadmap and business outcomes
  • Build scalable systems and frameworks for deal evaluation, triage, post-close accountability, and BD hygiene
  • Establish an early Corporate Development function including market mapping, build/buy/partner analysis, and diligence
  • Develop business cases and partner narratives that demonstrate mutual value and strategic alignment
  • Hire, mentor, and operationalize a centralized BD function with clear scope and stakeholder engagement models

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced degree (MBA) preferred but not required
