10x Genomics is a life sciences company enabling breakthroughs in biology through single-cell and spatial profiling technologies. They are seeking a field-based Account Executive for Houston to drive adoption and consumables utilization for the Chromium and Visium franchises across top- and mid-tier academic and government accounts, combining deep technical knowledge with strong account relationship and territory planning skills.

Skills

  • Technical expertise in single-cell and spatial biology platforms (Chromium, Visium)
  • 6–8+ years selling capital equipment and consumables in life sciences or biotech
  • Strong track record building relationships with academic and government research accounts
  • Proven pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM discipline
  • Consultative selling, prospecting, and closing skills
  • Ability to navigate research institution structures and grant funding environments
  • Business acumen for territory planning and translating strategy into sales results
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and post-sale account management
  • Willingness and ability to travel for field-based sales

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage territory and account plans to meet or exceed sales goals
  • Consult with customers on single-cell and spatial profiling solutions using technical credibility
  • Hunt, prospect, manage pipeline, forecast sales, and close new business using CRM and designated tools
  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with key thought leaders and decision-makers
  • Monitor market trends and customer ecosystems to identify high-value leads and opportunities
  • Coordinate with internal sales, support, and technical teams to deliver a cohesive customer experience
  • Manage post-purchase relationships to support consumables usage and identify future research needs
  • Apply rigorous business planning and timely forecasting to translate strategy into results
  • Maintain up-to-date product and market knowledge to effectively compete in the assigned territory
  • Travel as needed to engage accounts and support field-based activities

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field
