The Bernard and Audre Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice and its Sissy Farenthold Fund for Peace and Social Justice, housed at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, seeks applications for a Program Coordinator to oversee its day-to-day operations and its programs for students, faculty, and community members.
The Rapoport Center operates as a vibrant, interdisciplinary hub for social justice
research, teaching, networking, and advocacy. The Sissy Farenthold Fund supports research, advocacy, and programming on peace, reproductive justice, and environmental justice in Texas and around the world. The Center and Fund regularly convene workshops and public events that bring together academics and advocates; engage in research, scholarship, and report-writing; and support faculty and student research, creative work, and advocacy. They also financially support and help coordinate internships and other opportunities, nationally and internationally, for UT students.
The Program Coordinator will play a key administrative role within the Center and will also interface with faculty, students, and staff across campus as well as scholars and advocacy organizations around the world with whom we partner. Coordinates the Center’s programs, including conferences, speaker series, networking opportunities, meetings, and other events by, for example booking rooms and ordering catering; booking accommodations and travel for outside speakers; overseeing student interns and volunteers helping with events; and connecting with and facilitating follow-up with co-sponsors and other event stakeholders.
Processes financial documents, including vendor payments, student stipends and scholarships, travel authorizations and reimbursements, and purchase orders.
Coordinates the application and selection process for the Center’s student internships, scholarships, grants, writing prizes, and fellowships.
Provides course and other administrative support for the law school faculty co-director.
Other related responsibilities and functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and at least three years of coordinating or administering a program. Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience working at UT Austin or in a legal, advocacy, nonprofit, or academic setting. Graduate degree.
$50,000 + depending on qualifications
May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, use of manual dexterity. Lift and move standard office files and supplies. Wear appropriate office attire; accept supervision. Work hours may include occasional evenings, weekends and some holidays during peak periods to meet deadlines. The general expectation for the position is on-site work, though hybrid flexibility may be considered after the successful completion of an initial onboarding period of six months.
