Summary of Job Duties:

The Director for Industry Relations plays a critical role in connecting Walton College students with meaningful career opportunities by actively cultivating and expanding employer partnerships. This individual is responsible for developing new relationships with key industry leaders while strengthening existing connections to ensure a steady pipeline of employment – both internships and full-time - opportunities for students across various business majors.

Success in this role requires a proactive, hands-on approach to employer engagement, with a strong emphasis on in-person outreach and strategic relationships and partnership development. The Director will spend the majority of his/her time traveling and meeting with industry partners on-site, attending networking events, cultivating employment opportunities for students, and understanding employer needs to acquire talent.

By understanding employer needs along with workforce trends, the Director will shape recruitment strategies that align with the strengths and aspirations of Walton College students and represent their industry and geographical location preferences. Additionally, the Director will work collaboratively with the Associate Director for Internships and the Career Consultants to actively integrate employer relations into academic and professional development initiatives.

A successful candidate will be a dynamic relationship-builder with exceptional communication skills and the ability to navigate a varied business industry, be willing to travel frequently to employer meetings, conferences and networking events - with the ability to work evenings and weekends - and have the ability to analyze employer engagement data to assess trends, identify gaps, measure impact, and refine strategies.

Regular, non-disruptive, and in-person, reliable attendance is an essential job duty, as well as the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position will require office hours of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, with in-person support of programming/events during office hours and occasionally nights and weekends.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, human resources or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Experience that demonstrates growth and/or advancement within the fields of corporate human resources, professional, or executive recruitment

  • Demonstrated track record of success in developing and implementing recruiting strategies and programming

  • Comprehensive knowledge in two or more career fields within business education (such as Accounting and Finance; Marketing, Sales, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG); Supply Chain Management and/or Operations; Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship; Economics and Information Systems; and MBA and other Specialty Master’s Programs)

  • Proficient with web-based resources, spreadsheet and presentation software required (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)

  • Must be able to provide in-person support of programming/events during office hours, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, and occasional evenings and weekends, less than 10 evenings or weekends a semester

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business, communications, marketing, human resources, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with companies, executives, alumni, and recruiters

  • Demonstrated knowledge of job search and process management

  • Proficiency with pivot tables in Excel for data analysis

  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems, Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and/or Career Services platforms (e.g., Handshake, VMock, or similar)

  • Experience working with students in a higher education environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated project management abilities, interpersonal skills, and excellence in oral and written communication

  • Must be able to develop effective presentations and speak confidently to large audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly, to listen actively, and to adapt to changing situations
