- Strong interpretation of building regulations and ordinances
- Experience using permitting software (preferably Accela)
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Interpret regulations, laws, and ordinances for plans examination within departmental guidelines
- Assist contractors, architects, engineers, and the public with drawings, applications, calculations, and codes
- Identify and resolve issues in permit plans with innovative solutions
- Revise or amend original plans and provide follow up correspondence
- Enter and update plans examination and application data in the computer system
Education
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Certificate of competence from a national model code organization in assigned examination area
