Bristol Myers Squibb is a global biopharmaceutical company whose mission is to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases.
Pros
Overall, BMS is incredibly supportive of its employees. The mission and values are wonderfully clear and the organization does a great job of tying the work done daily back to that core. I found that the compensation was more than fair and they really invested in my personal and professional development.Cons
It's a large company and there are a huge amount of resources out there for your education and support, finding them can be a significant challenge, though, as the company spans multiple countries and timezones--finding who to ask your questions and get an effective answer can be quite time consuming. At Bristol Myers Squibb, we're leading the way in CAR T therapy. This emerging immunotherapy reprograms a patient's T-cells to recognize and attack cancer.
What is CAR T?
CAR T stands for "Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell" therapy.
How does it work?
T-cells are pieces of our immune system that attack and eliminate malignant cancer cells. During the CAR T process, the patient's T-cells are genetically modified and then administered back to the patient in specialized centers.
At BMS, every cell therapy product that we manufacture represents a unique cancer patient. CAR T manufacturing requires a personalized process, and each therapy is created from an individual patient's cells.
This is truly meaningful work.
Hear from Rhonda Greer, a Senior Manager, Cell Therapy Manufacturing:
"It's a personalized process...That's as close as I can get to a patient without being a nurse or a doctor. So that's meaningful to me. I'm making a difference for one individual at a time."
