Skills
- Direct hands-on injection mold design or construction experience
- Strong 3D CAD skills with advanced surfacing and large assemblies
- Experience with Moldflow mold simulation
- Knowledge of scientific molding and RJG methodologies
- Familiarity with Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) molding
- Ability to run DOE and interpret results
- Supplier management and international sourcing experience
- Experience with tooling materials, resin selection, and qualification
Responsibilities
- Develop new plastic injection tooling projects to meet performance and cosmetic requirements
- Collaborate with supply management, product design, industrial design, and manufacturing engineering on material selection and DFM
- Research and qualify new materials, manufacturing technologies, and finish options
- Estimate prototype and production manufacturing costs including tooling and secondary operations
- Participate in supplier audits, RFQs, and supplier selection
- Publish and maintain master tooling schedules and track supplier build progress
- Review and approve prototype/development tool designs, gating strategy, Moldflow and Mold Warp analysis
- Direct tooling modifications and approve TF parts, FAI reports, and PPAP documentation
- Participate in T1 samples and drive resolution of tooling/process issues
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related engineering discipline (required)
- Advanced degree in engineering or related field (preferred)
