Structural Analyst
Skills
- BS or higher in engineering or applied physics with structural focus
- Deep understanding of statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and material properties
- Structural testing experience (static, buckling, cyclic), including sensor selection and data post-processing
- Proficiency in FEA tools and solution sequences for linear and non-linear static and buckling analyses (ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN)
- Experience with CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks)
- Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for modeling, data acquisition, and automation
- Highly motivated, self-starting, organized, and able to work autonomously
- Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance
Responsibilities
- Perform static and dynamic structural analyses across sea, ground, air, and space domains using hand calculations, scripts, and detailed FEA
- Create, organize, and own FEMs at global and subsystem levels
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to inform and iterate on designs based on analytical results
- Support validation testing: instrumentation setup, data acquisition, and model correlation
- Document analysis methodology and results in technical reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations
- Stay current with advancements in analysis techniques, materials, and standards
Education
- BS in engineering or applied physics with a focus in structures (required)
- MS or higher in engineering or applied physics with a structures focus (preferred)
