Hardware Test Engineer (Starlink)
Skills
- Hardware development or electronics test engineering experience
- Proficient with electrical schematics and electronics manufacturing processes
- Experience designing and troubleshooting PCBAs
- Programming experience (Python; familiarity with C/C++ and TwinCAT beneficial)
- Experience with RF testing and characterization
- Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, spectrum/network analyzer, signal generators, SMU, electronic loads)
- Experience with environmental testing (HALT/HASS, thermal, vibration, TVAC)
- Experience with PLC hardware/software and functional safety systems
- Strong cross-functional communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work extended hours and participate in on-call rotations as needed
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to design and build test systems for flight hardware
- Define, document, and present test system requirements, coverage, designs, and operational strategies
- Design and produce test assets including test racks, panels, fixtures, harnesses, PCBAs, and tooling
- Select COTS hardware or design custom PCBAs to measure signals, apply flight-like loads, and power units under test
- Develop software interfaces (Python) to interact with units under test, instrumentation, and production systems
- Analyze production and on-orbit data to drive continuous test and product improvements
- Support hardware through production, satellite integration, and flight operations
- Ensure designs and processes meet applicable safety and regulatory standards (UL, NFPA, ANSI, IEC, etc.)
- Participate in failure investigations and reliability assurance activities
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or other STEM discipline (required)
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or similar (preferred)
