Mechanical Design Engineer II, Tooling
Skills
- 3+ years designing and commissioning manufacturing tooling, fixtures, or custom machines
- Proficient with CAD and FEA tools (NX and ANSYS Workbench preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance and stack-up analysis
- Experience with manufacturing processes (welding, machining, sheet metal, lifting/rigging)
- Project management and full-cycle delivery experience
Responsibilities
- Design and develop production and development tooling, fixtures, and factory automation for Terran vehicle and Aeon engine programs
- Perform structural design and FEA-driven analysis to validate tooling and fixture designs
- Create detailed fabrication drawings and apply ASME Y14.5/GD&T standards for manufacturing
- Manage projects from concept through vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, installation, and commissioning
- Collaborate closely with component designers, manufacturing, and integration teams to optimize safety, cost, quality, and cycle time
- Support onsite installation, testing, debugging, and handoff of tooling and automated equipment
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
