Automation & Controls Engineer (Starship Launch Pad)
Skills
- Experience with data acquisition systems and DAQ hardware
- Familiarity with PLCs and industrial control hardware
- Hands-on wiring, wire harnesses, and low-voltage electrical systems work
- Basic PCB schematic capture and layout/verification experience
- Analog and digital electronics troubleshooting and testing
- Knowledge of industrial bus protocols (Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP)
- Working knowledge of electrical power distribution and NFPA 70/70E
- Programming and software development experience for control/DAQ systems
- Ability to interpret and act on real-time sensor data in operational settings
- Ability to work in harsh environments and perform physical tasks on-site
Responsibilities
- Design and build controls infrastructure for ground support equipment and launch pad systems
- Maintain operational capability of low-voltage (<60V) electrical systems after activation
- Develop and upgrade data acquisition and control systems across launch infrastructure
- Create new automation systems to support evolving test and launch needs
- Provide technical support and guidance to controls technicians and cross-functional teams
- Design and develop hardware and processes to reduce cost and setup time for electrical systems
- Analyze system data to assess function and health of electrical and control systems
- Assist in design and analysis of experiments and tests for launch and test articles
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (required)
