Skills
- Proficient CAD skills (NX preferred) for complex mechanical assemblies
- FEA experience (ANSYS Workbench preferred) for structural applications
- Strong understanding and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Experience designing fixtures, material handling, rotisseries, and test fixtures
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (milling, turning, welding, sheet metal, rigging)
- Project management and vendor coordination experience
Responsibilities
- Design and develop production and development tooling, fixtures, and custom machines to support Terran R and Aeon programs
- Perform structural analysis and validate designs using FEA and engineering judgment
- Create and interpret detailed 2D/3D drawings and apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
- Manage projects from concept through fabrication, inspection, installation, and commissioning
- Collaborate closely with component designers, manufacturing, and integration engineering to optimize safety, cost, quality, cycle time, and reliability
- Support vendor selection, fabrication oversight, and acceptance testing of tooling and automated equipment
- Field solutions on the factory floor and iterate designs based on real-world performance
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
