Design Criteria Engineer II

Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket and advancing launch vehicle reusability. The Integrated Performance / Design Criteria team seeks a Design Criteria Engineer II to connect analysis, test, certification, and design teams — ensuring hardware and concepts of operation meet requirements and driving optimized, verifiable designs through review and release.

Skills

  • Verification and qualification of aerospace structures
  • Familiarity with industry standards (NASA, Space Force, AIAA) applicable to structures, pressure hardware, and engines
  • Hands-on experience with design, integration, test, and operation of space vehicles or large complex systems
  • Experience leading design reviews and coordinating cross-functional teams
  • Ability to translate abstract requirements and constraints into actionable design criteria

Responsibilities

  • Engage with vehicle design and partner teams to drive optimized designs and shepherd them through review and part release
  • Own and lead Design Criteria Reviews with design teams and responsible engineers
  • Provide guidance and approval of qualification and acceptance test campaigns in preparation for flight
  • Collaborate with responsible engineers throughout design, ensuring design criteria are incorporated into hardware development
  • Build, modify, or eliminate engineering tools, processes, and standards to improve product-focused development

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant aerospace or systems experience
