Avionics Test Engineer II

Relativity Space is building the Terran R rocket and a vertically integrated factory to transform launch. The Avionics Test Engineer II will design and build test frameworks, equipment, and procedures to qualify and accept avionics components, working closely with hardware and software teams to enable reliable component- and system-level testing.

Skills

  • Experience with electronics hardware simulation or test (1–3 years)
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and control platforms (NI, Beckhoff, or similar)
  • Hands-on use of lab instruments: power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, electronic loads
  • Working knowledge of common comms protocols: Ethernet, CAN, UART, SPI
  • Ability to collaborate across hardware, software, and systems teams and communicate test results clearly

Responsibilities

  • Develop test frameworks and infrastructure for qualification and acceptance of avionics components
  • Design and build simulation circuits, auxiliary test equipment, test harnesses, fixtures, and enclosures
  • Derive test requirements and methodologies with hardware and software engineers
  • Create, maintain, and execute test plans and test procedures for component and system validation
  • Integrate, commission, and operate test rack hardware and software to support functional testing
  • Collect, analyze, and report test data to inform design iterations and acceptance decisions

Education

  • Undergraduate degree (BS) in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Graduate degrees (MS/PhD) in related fields accepted and relevant
