The Data Engineer I, WFM creates, modifies, and tests the code, forms, and scripts that construct the data sets that drive our Data Science and Business Intelligence capabilities. The Data Engineer may develop and write solutions to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information and distribute through multiple methods. They will perform basic ETL (extract, transform, load) processes. As they continue to build knowledge and expertise in this area, they will follow professional standards and best practices and departmental guidelines to solve problems of finite scope and complexity independently.

What you will do:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain data sets and extract, transform, load (ETL) scripts and processes.  Use scripting skills to create data models and pipelines. 
  • Work closely with other data professionals and business stakeholders to develop understanding of the needs, pace, and direction for our business partners.  Translate these needs into requirements and specifications for data processes and tools.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise and solve problems independently and collaboratively.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and other analysts to further understand business problems.
  • Develop code to complete effective solutions using applicable technology.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar area (Required).
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, relational database theory, and skills to utilize one or more programming languages (Required).  
  • Familiarity with healthcare specific regulatory requirements for data management.
  • Experience providing data integration services within healthcare organizations.
  • Knowledge of Tableau, SAS, R, and other analytic tools.

  • You will elevate your collaboration and communication skills by working closely with data scientists, analysts, and other data professionals to understand business problems and translate these needs into requirements and specifications for data processes and tools.
  • You will enhance your technical proficiency by gaining knowledge of Tableau, SAS, R, and other analytic tools, as well as the software development lifecycle, relational database theory, and programming languages.
  • You will develop the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise and solve problems independently and collaboratively.
  • You will gain experience in providing data integration services within healthcare organizations and familiarity with healthcare-specific regulatory requirements for data management.

Physical Requirements

  • This is primarily a sedentary role which requires the ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • This role requires the ability to keyboard and to communicate clearly and understandably in person and over the telephone.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.

The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.

National Salary Range:

$78,000.00 - $111,200.00

National Plus Salary Range:

$78,000.00 - $126,800.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
