BOLI has openings for four Compliance and Regulatory Supervisor 2 positions for the Labor Standards Compliance Unit, Labor Standards Enforcement Unit, Workplace Standards Unit and the Prevailing Wage Investigations Unit in the Wage and Hour Division. The positions will be based in our Portland or Salem offices, and the successful candidates may also be eligible to work a hybrid schedule.
These are permanent, full-time, management service positions and not represented by a union. This recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies as they occur.

What You Will Be Doing

These positions provide day-to-day general supervision and oversee the daily activities of the Wage and Hour Division labor and compliance staff. Duties include:
Serving as a subject matter expert to subordinate positions
Providing work direction and assignments
Communicating decisions regarding strategic and policy related decisions
Helping management implement and fulfill strategic operation objectives
Coordinating the Wage and Hour programs, including wage and hour compliance specialists and administrative specialists located in multiple offices who are tasked with enforcing the laws, rules, and regulations that afford protection of Oregon wage earners

Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Daily computer use. Interaction with general public on a continuous basis, sometime involving highly sensitive, emotional and/or hostile people. Must be able to maintain objectivity, negotiate and resolve adversarial and emotional disputes with tact and diplomacy. Flexible work conditions for teleworking consistent with meeting customer needs and internal workflow needs.
Regular travel to office locations. Driver’s license valid in the state of Oregon and acceptable driving record required or ability to provide alternative transportation.
This Is What You Need to Qualify
Minimum Qualifications:
Four years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience
OR
One year of related experience AND a bachelor’s degree in a related field
The ideal candidate will possess the following desired skills and attributes:
Experience utilizing leadership skills like organizational development, change management, and strategic thinking and planning
Experience problem solving, delegating, prioritizing, and making decisions under pressure within limited time frames in a team-based management group
Experience with leadership skills, not just limited to supervising others, but fostering a diverse and inclusive working environment
Experience in an ever-changing environment and adaptability to policy changes
Experience resolving conflicts, fostering teamwork, and encouraging cooperation across internal and external stakeholders
Experience providing constructive feedback and working effectively within collective bargaining agreements
Prior experience with wage and hour/employment law and/or experience managing in a compliance-based program

Additional Information
Per the Pay Equity Law passed in 2017, a pay equity analysis will be conducted to determine what pay step the successful candidate will be offered. The analysis will be based on the relevant experience, education, training, and certifications documented in the application materials. On average, candidates new to state service will most likely be offered compensation in the lower to mid-level of the salary range.
The salary range listed is the non-PERS eligible rate. If you’re already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible after 6 months of employment, the salary range will increase by 6.95% and the required 6% employee retirement contribution will be deducted from your pay.
