NETGEAR is seeking a Head of Consumer Insights to join our Product Marketing organization, where you’ll serve as the strategic engine behind our understanding of consumers, market trends, and product performance. This role will be instrumental in shaping the future of home connectivity by delivering actionable insights that guide product innovation, go-to-market strategy, and brand positioning—especially across our leading Orbi and Nighthawk portfolios.
We’re looking for a curious, data-driven leader with deep experience in market research, segmentation, and consumer behavior who thrives in cross-functional environments. You will partner closely with teams across Product Management, Brand, Engineering, and the Executive team to drive a consumer-first approach in all strategic decisions. This is a hybrid role, onsite 3 days a week in our San Jose HQ.
Key Responsibilities:
Consumer & Market Insights Strategy
Develop and lead NETGEAR’s global insights roadmap across qualitative and quantitative research, including segmentation, journey mapping, conjoint analysis, TURF, and branding.
Champion consumer-centric thinking and elevate the role of insights in business decision-making across the organization.
Own the definition and refinement of consumer personas—translating behavioral, psychographic, and demographic data into actionable segment strategies.
Innovation & Product Strategy Support
Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to influence roadmap planning with clear consumer needs and unmet pain points.
Lead ideation and concept testing processes, helping prioritize features that resonate with key segments (e.g., innovation shoppers vs. value-driven users).
Support pricing, feature prioritization, and portfolio optimization through advanced analytics, including conjoint and demand elasticity modeling.
Go-To-Market Enablement
Shape positioning and messaging by aligning key product benefits to distinct consumer values and behaviors (e.g., ease of use for stallers, speed and control for enthusiasts).
Partner with Product Marketing to ensure marketing communications, product pages, and campaigns are rooted in deep consumer truths.
Generate “moment-of-truth” insight that informs GTM planning—why consumers consider, switch, or stall during purchase.
Brand & Category Leadership
Identify whitespace opportunities and evolving consumer expectations, helping NETGEAR define and own the “Premium Connectivity” category.
Support the build-out of a brand architecture strategy (e.g., NETGEAR vs. Orbi vs. Nighthawk) through research and brand equity modeling.
Influence retail and partner strategy with shopper behavior insights, path-to-purchase analysis, and retail personas.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Thought Leadership
Lead cross-functional insight briefings that unify product (hardware and services/apps), brand, and marketing teams around one consumer truth.
Act as the voice of the customer at the leadership table—translating complex data into compelling stories and clear business implications.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and agency partners to scale insights capabilities.
Measurement & Performance Feedback Loops
Define KPIs for consumer satisfaction, brand equity, and campaign impact, ensuring closed-loop learning is embedded into every launch.
Leverage tools such as brand trackers, CSAT/NPS, and usage data to uncover insights post-launch and refine future strategy.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Psychology, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree in Behavioral Sciences preferred.
10+ years of experience in Consumer Insights, Market Research, or Marketing Strategy roles, ideally within tech, CPG, or consumer electronics.
Expert in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including segmentation, U&A, concept testing, conjoint, and path-to-purchase.
Proven success influencing product and marketing decisions through insights.
