Director, Sales

Maravai LifeSciences is a global leader in nucleic acid production and biologics safety testing, supporting biotech and biopharma companies with products and services that accelerate vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics. The Director of Sales will lead a regional sales organization across the Americas, scale revenue and product adoption, manage a team of ~9 direct reports, and act as a player-coach to drive strategic growth, customer partnerships, and commercial execution.

Skills

  • Proven sales leadership and team development experience with a track record of exceeding targets.
  • Strong knowledge of molecular biology, mRNA technologies, biologics manufacturing, and cGMP principles.
  • Expertise in negotiating commercial agreements, IP licensing, and supply contracts.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, MS Office, and sales forecasting analytics.
  • Excellent presentation, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% for customer engagements and events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a sales team of Business Development Managers, Inside Sales, and Field Application Scientists to exceed revenue targets.
  • Define and execute territory-level strategies aligned with corporate objectives to grow market share across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Develop and maintain strategic customer and KOL relationships within biomanufacturing, R&D, diagnostics, and mRNA markets.
  • Negotiate complex commercial agreements, including material supply agreements, IP licensing, and supply contracts.
  • Provide accurate forecasting and pipeline management using Salesforce and related tools to inform leadership decisions.
  • Capture Voice of Customer (VOC) insights to inform product development, marketing, and sales enablement.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and symposia, presenting on products and market trends.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, or related field required.
  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, MBA) or business credential preferred, especially with ~8 years' experience in therapeutic startups.
