Principal Solutions Architect

GitLab is an open-core software company delivering an AI-powered DevSecOps platform used by over 100,000 organizations. We are seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to act as a trusted technical advisor and AI subject matter expert in pre-sales, driving technical strategy, proofs of value, and long-term platform adoption for strategic accounts.

Skills

  • Deep hands-on expertise designing or implementing AI-powered solutions and advising on AI adoption.
  • Proven experience in technical pre-sales, software consulting, or similar customer-facing roles.
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD, DevSecOps practices, and related tooling.
  • Familiarity with cloud architectures and secure, scalable application delivery.
  • Ability to design and communicate multi-team, lifecycle-spanning architectures and lead technical evaluations/workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery, architecture design, demos, and end-to-end evaluations (POC/POV) to validate GitLab solutions.
  • Drive AI-focused solution strategy, competitive positioning, and business-value justification.
  • Own technical strategy for assigned accounts and act as the technical "CTO" for multi-team transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and Marketing to shape account strategies and ensure adoption.
  • Provide advanced technical guidance in the pre-sales cycle, including tender and audit support and complex integration solutions.
  • Translate customer feedback into product requirements, documentation improvements, and roadmap input, especially for AI and security.
  • Create reusable technical assets: reference architectures, working examples, best-practice guides, and enablement content.
  • Mentor other Solutions Architects and contribute to global Center of Excellence initiatives and external thought leadership.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s) or equivalent experience welcome but not required.
