Laboratory Operations Specialist

- Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting common lab instrumentation (HPLC, centrifuges, spectrometers, thermal cyclers)
- Experience with lab inventory systems and supply chain coordination
- Familiarity with biosafety, chemical hygiene, and hazardous waste management practices
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment with shifting priorities
Responsibilities
- Manage, calibrate, and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for a wide range of scientific equipment (HPLCs, centrifuges, thermal cyclers, spectrometers, etc.)
- Track, troubleshoot, and document instrument performance and failures across chemistry, biology, and materials science domains
- Oversee inventory systems for reagents, consumables, and lab supplies and streamline procurement processes
- Coordinate vendor visits, equipment installations, and service contracts
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols including biosafety, chemical hygiene, and hazardous waste disposal
- Facilitate onboarding of new scientific staff and contractors on lab tools, operations, and safety practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally with research, engineering, and automation teams to support experimental and operational needs
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, materials science, or related field, or equivalent hands-on lab experience
- Relevant safety or technical certifications preferred but not required
