Sr. GNC Trajectory Engineer, Space
Skills
- Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics and spacecraft dynamics
- Experience building and validating complex simulation frameworks (3-DOF and 6-DOF)
- Practical experience with spacecraft operations and satellite command-and-control
- Familiarity with rendezvous, proximity operations, docking, and propulsive maneuvers
- Experience with attitude determination and control systems
- Ability to translate simulation results into flight-capable algorithms
- Clear written and verbal communication, documentation, and training skills
- Eligible to obtain and maintain U.S. Top Secret security clearance
Responsibilities
- Select, design, and implement guidance and trajectory algorithms to inform mission and constellation design
- Build and field simulation solutions (3-DOF and 6-DOF) to demonstrate mission closure against customer requirements
- Migrate validated algorithms into flight software and verify performance in flight baselines
- Develop test plans and validation procedures for ground checkout, on-orbit commissioning, and operations
- Collaborate with Systems, Flight Software, Mission Ops, Ground Software, and bus providers for integration and fielding
- Lead mission, constellation, truth/physics modeling, and simulation analyses across multiple orbital regimes including RPOD and reentry scenarios
- Support schedules for ground testing, launches, and on-orbit operations and provide operator-facing documentation and training
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Astrodynamics, Dynamics & Controls, Computer Science, or related engineering field
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant discipline preferred but not required
