Skills
- Degree in a technical field (mechanical, electrical, systems engineering, math or hard science).
- 5+ years in Operations roles such as Process, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, or electromechanical design.
- Hands-on experience manufacturing hardware (machining, fabrication, soldering, assembly, etc.).
- Experience developing make-vs-buy analyses and supplier/business-case evaluation.
- Experience working with and managing contract manufacturers and production/test flows.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Own technical and commercial aspects of the manufacturing value chain for assigned products to ensure scalable production capability.
- Evaluate, plan, and prioritize short- and long-term supply chain, production, and test optimizations to meet production output goals.
- Develop business cases for vertical integration or strategic supplier partnerships to accelerate production scalability.
- Continuously evaluate make-vs-buy decisions for sub-assemblies to optimize total cost of ownership, lead time, and flexibility.
- Work hands-on with contract manufacturers to implement repeatable processes for quick-turn development and at-scale production and testing.
- Be on-site at current and potential operations partners to manage technical and commercial needs and resolve production issues.
- Collaborate with technicians and engineers to build prototypes and production hardware and support internal/external testing.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation required for reliable, high-volume hardware production.
- Reduce complexity through component/supplier rationalization and commonality optimization.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, mathematics, physics, or other hard science.
