Launch Fluids Engineer I

Relativity Space is developing the Terran R launch vehicle and supporting infrastructure to expand access to orbit. The Launch Fluids Engineer I will design, fabricate, commission, and maintain propellant and gas systems for the Terran R launch pad, working on-site at Cape Canaveral across design, construction activation, and initial operations while collaborating with cross-functional teams and government partners.

Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering
  • Hands-on experience with thermal and fluid analyses
  • Familiarity with fluid components such as valves, regulators, pumps, and instrumentation
  • Ability to create and interpret P&IDs, fabrication drawings, and process documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills in complex systems

Responsibilities

  • Design launch pad propellant and gas infrastructure, including piping, components, and control/monitoring elements
  • Produce modeling, pipe stress analysis, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, component lists, and detailed work instructions
  • Support fabrication, supervise construction activation, commissioning, and initial operations of launch pad systems
  • Operate and maintain fluid systems on-site and troubleshoot cross-disciplinary technical issues under schedule pressure
  • Coordinate with internal teams and government partners; ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field (required)
  • Eligibility to clear a US government background check for on-site work at partner locations
