Flight Test Engineer - Bolt, Precision Engagement
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical discipline and 3+ years SUAS flight test experience
- Working knowledge of the National Airspace System and UAS operating rules/regulations
- Experience with test planning, data collection, analysis, and documentation for flight systems
- Familiarity with avionics, propulsion, flight characteristics, and rugged hardware design
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handle complex tasks, and work extended hours as needed
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and travel for tests
Responsibilities
- Develop test & evaluation (T&E) approaches and plans for small UAS/quadcopter platforms
- Lead and perform system- and sub-system level testing (ground and flight) for hardware and software
- Define test success metrics, conduct data collection, and analyze flight/test performance
- Drive design-for-testability, ruggedization, and quality improvements at scale
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (systems, software, hardware, manufacturing) to resolve issues
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation and test reports
- Support regulatory compliance and integration with the National Airspace System and UAS operating rules
- Travel as required to support planning and test activities and maintain security clearance eligibility
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related technical field from an accredited institution
- Relevant flight test or systems engineering training/certification preferred
