Avionics Design Engineer
Skills
- Full-cycle PCB and mixed-signal design experience including layout, layer stackup, and impedance control
- Power electronics and power management design and analysis
- Hands-on microcontroller bring-up and embedded integration
- Proficiency with lab test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, benchtop supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzers)
- Familiarity with thermal and EMI test concepts and test chambers
- Experience with common electrical buses (CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB)
- Understanding of grounding, board protection, filtering, and cable harness design
- Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills
- Eligible to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance
Responsibilities
- Full-cycle PCB development: requirements capture, schematic design, component selection, layout oversight, bring-up, test, and debug
- Microcontroller bring-up, integration, and low-level test support
- Power-system design and analysis, including power management and electrical loading simulation and testing
- Troubleshoot cross-domain issues spanning electrical and software boundaries using lab equipment and basic software debugging tools
- Design and develop payloads and subsystems (sensors, interfaces, networking, power)
- Create system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses, connectors, and wiring selections
- Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test teams to integrate mission-critical products
- Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews and document designs for stakeholders
- Support deployments, flight tests, and customer-operated hardware lifecycle
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex electrical systems
